Living Smart Household

Living Smart Household is an innovative community-based behaviour change program that engages with households on a personal level and encourages them to reduce their energy and water use, waste disposal and car-based transport.

About the program

From April 2010, Living Smart will be offered to around 10,000 households in Perth’s eastern region as part of the Australian Government initiative Perth Solar City. Residents in the east metropolitan region can also attend free Living Smart Community courses to be held during the project.

By self selecting tailored resources and using telephone based eco-coaching, the Living Smart program can encourage and motivate householders to reduce their emissions by up to two tonnes of greenhouse gas each year and reduce their bills

The Living Smart brand has been developed by The Meeting Place Community Centre, the City of Fremantle, Murdoch University and Southern Metropolitan Regional Council to support a suite of programs developing capacity in community sustainability.
