Acting Planning Minister John Castrilli today announced Eric Lumsden as the Western Australian Planning Commission’s (WAPC) new interim chair.

Mr Castrilli appointed Mr Lumsden in order to help the selection process for the permanent chair to be finalised.

Mr Lumsden has been appointed until the end of March.

“There has been considerable interest in the position of chair and the State Government wants to ensure the best candidate is selected,” the Minister said.

“Mr Lumsden is one of WA’s most respected administrators and planners and has played a key role in major planning studies at both local and regional levels.

“He is committed to ensuring the WAPC and department play a leading role in land-use planning initiatives for the State and I welcome his appointment.”

Mr Lumsden is a former chief executive officer at the City of Melville and the City of Swan councils and has been Director General of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure since November 2007.

Mr Castrilli thanked the WAPC’s retiring chair Jeremy Dawkins for his contribution.
