Expressions of Interest called for final harbour lots

Media statement

Release date: 29/04/09

The last land available for development at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour is being offered for lease.

The Department for Planning and Infrastructure is seeking expressions of interest for the four lots on Wallace Way and Fleay Lane, off the southern end of Mews Rd.

Acting Manager of Coastal Facilities Donna West said the land, which previously housed the Department’s Marine Operations Centre, could only be used for maritime and fishing industry purposes and residential, tourist accommodation use or boat stacking would not be considered.

Ms West said there had already been significant interest in the lots as they were the only undeveloped sites within the harbour.

“A number of current operators within the harbour have expressed an interest in expanding their operations and the lots will also be attractive to marine related industries wanting to relocate to Fremantle,” Ms West said.

Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour is one of the busiest small boat harbours in Western Australia with facilities for more than 200 fishing and commercial vessels and now more than 100 recreational vessels.

The four lots, available for long term ground lease, range in size from 984 to 1910 square metres

Interested parties wanting further details or an information pack containing lot plans, summary of lease terms and conditions, standard agreement for lease terms and conditions, selection criteria and a copy of the standard lease document should contact Peter Duffield on 0418 926 296 or 9476 2004.

Submissions close at 4.30pm on 29 May 2009 and should be sent to McGees Property, PO Box 1285 West Perth WA 6872 or delivered to 2nd Floor, 10 Kings Park Road,  West Perth 6005.
