Bikeweek 2011
Bikeweek 2011 successfully attracted over 30,000 adults and children to more than 200 different cycling activities held in metropolitan and regional Western Australia. These events were largely run by community groups, schools, cycling organisations, workplaces and local government authorities.It officially opened on Sunday, 20 March with the ever popular HBF Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma, an event which attracted more than 8,700 people. The celebration also included a wide range of community rides and breakfasts, cycling skills workshops, slow bike rides, treasure hunts, bicycle swap meets and film screenings.
The various Bikeweek 2011 events offered participants of all ages the opportunity to experience the fun of riding a bike, be it around their neighbourhood, or exploring other parts of our City and State.
There were Bikeweek events just right for everyone, from those new to cycling, to those back on their bikes after a break, or the more experienced riders.
Bikeweek 2012 community events and sponsorship
Sunday 18 to Sunday 25 MarchThe Bikeweek 2012 calendar aims to more events than ever, with activities for participants of all ages and riding ability. To ensure that as many people as possible can be involved in this celebration of all things cycling, Bikewest is offering small grants for community events that promote the many benefits of cycling and encourage community members to take part in every day bike riding. Bikeweek 2012 will open with the ever popular Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma on Sunday 18 March, an event which continues to grow, attracting over 8,700 people in 2011. Bikeweek will also coincide with the UCI World Cycling Tour, running from Saturday 17 March to Sunday 25 March. Links to cycling event websites below.
