Amendments to Bicycle Regulations
Recent amendments to the Road Traffic Code and the Road Traffic Regulations have been enacted and were published in the Government Gazette on 30 August 2011. For details on the amendments view the fact sheet.
Road traffic rules for people who ride a bicycle
The WA Road Traffic Code 2000 and the WA Road Traffic (Bicycles) Regulations 2002 contain the rules and regulations that govern people who ride a bicycle on WA roads and paths (including shared paths, footpaths, Principal Shared Paths, bicycle lanes and sealed shoulders).

In addition to the State Government Legislation and Regulations, Local Government Authorities have jurisdiction over shared paths and footpaths in their precinct and may have additional by-laws affecting bicycle riders. Contact your Local Council (external site) for more information.
