Section 1 - Kalamunda to Lesmurdie Falls

Commence your ride at the Kalamunda Hotel. Take the shared path south to the roundabout and then proceed west down Mead Street. Turn left into the shared path that runs down the side of Canning Road.

Kalamunda Hotel
The Kalamunda Hotel is a well-known landmark in the Hills.

Follow the shared path as it runs past Kalamunda High School and turns right alongside Cotherstone Road. The path then turns left down the eastern side of Orange Valley Road. Continue until the path ends and then turn left into Burma Road. At the end of this road turn right into Falls Road and travel down about 1.2 km to Lesmurdie Falls.

Orange Valley view
The path along Orange Valley Road provides some excellent views.

Lesmurdie Falls
Lesmurdie Falls provides a great place to stop and rest.

Lesmurdie Falls is a small cascade formed by Lesmurdie Brook which eventually flows into the Canning River at Beckenham.

It provides riders and walkers with a tranquil spot to stop for a picnic and there are public toilets available. A well sign-posted walking track leads from the main car park to a viewing platform.

The area surrounding Lesmurdie Falls is unspoilt bushland and has been designated as a national park.

A number of interconnected walk trails meander through the park and beyond. In particular, the Lewis Road Walk, the Whistlepipe Gully Walk and the Palm Terrace Walk provide participants with an excellent opportunity to view local flora and fauna. Riders can leave their bikes at the main car park and explore these trails on foot. Detailed maps of the various walk trails can be obtained from the Shire of Kalamunda office on Railway Road.
