A planned approach to learning and development

We're committed to providing you with challenging learning opportunities that will develop and refine your professional and personal skills. As well as access to job specific training and development, you will also be able to participate in a range of corporate programmes.

For senior managers, our Leadership Development Programme comprises a range of personal and professional developmental activities designed to increase our leadership capability through a shared vision and consistent leadership approach. The programme includes twice yearly leaders forums, a wide range of skills and personal development workshops and access to sector wide programmes and scholarship opportunities.

For middle managers, our Frontline Management Programme provides a nationally recognised and accredited training framework to develop and enhance your managerial competencies through focus on practical application and demonstration of competencies within the workplace.

Our Mentoring Programme can help you either to find a senior person who can provide with long-term advice and support, or offer you the opportunity to impart your wisdom and knowledge to others.

Our Scholarship Programme provides an opportunity to apply for generous subsidies of up to 75% of course fees for those employees wishing to pursue further education.

Our Performance Development Review provides you with an opportunity to discuss your career, your future plans and your work performance with your manager. It focuses on dealing with the employees as a whole person, rather than someone who simply fulfils a role. It encourages open discussion between managers and employees regarding achievements and behaviours in line with our corporate values, and provides an opportunity for agreement regarding developmental needs and career directions.

Coaching skills workshops provide our managers with the skills necessary to assist in fostering honest and open relationships with staff, to empower employees to explore options, make decisions and develop skills and competencies.

Opportunities for career advancement

We are committed to ensuring that all employees are provided with developmental opportunities on a fair and equitable basis.

We encourage our employees to apply for further promotion as appropriate opportunities arise. All staff have access to internally advertised vacancies through the on-line Job Market on our intranet.
