About Dr Enrique Peñalosa

Through the framework of Network City, Perth aims to become world-class sustainable city, focussing on innovative practices in accessibility and placemaking. Dr Peñalosa will share his experiences and learn about Perth's many initiatives to create a better future for all Western Australians.
As Mayor of Bogota, Colombia (1998-2001), Dr Enrique Peñalosa instituted a number of initiatives, including “Car-Free Days", which helped to change community attitudes to alternative transport. Dr Peñalosa developed a model for urban improvement based on the belief that all people should have equal access to transportation, education and public spaces.
