Dealer network registration scheme

The Dealer Network Registration Scheme provides Dealers with on-line access through a PC and modem to a limited licensing system specifically designed for the transactions they will perform, including vehicle registration renewals, vehicle transfers and reissue of licence plates

Dealers on the dealer network can improve their customer service by:

  • Registering a vehicle immediately for a customer who would receive valid registration documents at the point of sale.

  • Following disposal of a registered vehicle, dealers are able to enter details of the new owner to the vehicle registration record

  • Dealers are able to keep sale vehicles registered for customers

  • Dealers which acquire a registered vehicle from an owner who wishes to retain the number plates for subsequent reissue to another vehicle (e.g. personalised, custom plates), are able to issue a new set of plates to the vehicle being traded - saving the customer a trip to a licensing centre

  • When customers trade or sell vehicles to dealers, the dealer can collect payments owed against a vehicle for transfer. Dealers can produce a receipt - saving the customer a trip to a licensing centre

Dealer benefits in joining the scheme include:

  • Huge savings on staff time attending licensing centres

  • Improved customer service by having the ability to immediately register vehicles for clients

  • Access to a licensing service during all Dealer trading hours, including Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.00pm and Saturdays till 1.00pm

  • For vehicles that can be registered under the Bulk Certification Scheme dealers can register "factory new" vehicle, issue plates and registration papers

  • If you acquire a vehicle in the course of your business you can transfer the ownership of that vehicle into your name without visiting a Licensing Centre

  • On the spot renewal of registration for vehicles that you own

  • Dealers can issue a duplicate copy of registration papers, on payment of a fee, for a vehicle that dealer's either currently own or are the last to own

  • Dealers can produce examination fee receipts in their name for vehicles requiring examination before registration
