HR/HC Practical Driving Assessments - Trial

Heavy rigid (HR) and heavy combination (HC) practical driving assessment (PDA) external authorised provider trial

The Department of Transport (DoT) is conducting a six month trial of external authorised providers completing HR and HC PDAs in the Bunbury and Busselton areas.

During the trial customers can choose to sit their PDA for HR and HC vehicle classes with a DoT driving assessor or one of the external authorised providers.

Notes for HR candidates, using an Authorised Provider:

Once you pass your HR or HC PDA with an external provider you will be issued with a �certificate of competency� that you must bring to a Driver and Vehicle Services Centre or Regional Agent.

You will not be entitled to drive a HR or HC class vehicle until you have presented the certificate, paid the processing fee, and the new class has been added to your licence record.

For customers sitting a HR PDA, unless you have previously held a MR class licence, you will also need to pay for and sit the heavy vehicle theory test before you are entitled to drive a HR class vehicle. Holders of an MR class licence will have already met this requirement.
