Religious, cultural and special needs arrangements

The Department respects various cultural and religious sensitivities and will endeavour to accommodate any special requirements when taking a photograph.

Such arrangements will be available at Licensing Centres and Licensing Agents, but will not be available at Australia Post outlets.

Arrangements will be in place for the photograph to be taken in a private area, if this is a requirement. Similar arrangements will be made for people with a permanent facial disfigurement.

Where head-dress is worn for religious or cultural purposes, this need not be removed, but the facial features must be photographed.

Where a licence holder has a temporary facial injury or disfigurement, they will need to provide the Department with an outline of the circumstances, in writing.

Wheelchair access is available at all Photopoint sites.
