Plan before you party

Before you head out to party, plan your ride home.

Late-night transport options include taxis, trains, NightRider bus services and chartered vehicles.
Alternatively please consider nominating a skipper or pre-arranging someone to pick you up.
When you're planning a night out be prepared, and make transport a part of your plan.

 

Top tips for taking a taxi

1 Below are a few simple rules to make catching a taxi a safe and enjoyable experience for you and your driver.
  Be:  
 
  • presentable and reasonable;
  • courteous - respect your driver and other taxi customers;
  • patient - there will be delays at peak periods due to high demand;
  • in a well-lit and populated area wherever possible if you're waiting on the street;
  • sure to program taxi phone numbers into your mobile phone; and
  • prepared to pay the appropriate fare.
2 Need to know how to catch a taxi?
3 Stay safe and comfortable
  Security personnel staff taxi ranks on Friday and Saturday nights at:
 
  • Northbridge: Milligan Street (alongside Rosie O'Grady's): midnight to 4am (Fri/Sat) and 5am (Sat/Sun)
  • Northbridge: William Street (between Francis and James Street): midnight to 4am
  • Fremantle: South Terrace (near the Fremantle Markets): 11pm to 5am
  Security personnel will also staff these taxi ranks on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve:
 
  • Christmas Eve: Midnight to 4am
  • New Year's Eve: Midnight to 6am
  There are also taxi ranks located at:
 
  • Claremont (Club Bay View and The Claremont)
  • Fremantle (High Street, Mews Road - Harbourside Nightclub)
  • Hillarys Marina (near Bar 120)
  • Leederville (Leederville Hotel)
  • Northbridge (Black Betty's Night Club)
  • Scarborough (behind the Rendezvous Observation City Hotel)
  • Subiaco (Subiaco Hotel)
4 Share a cab with friends
  If your friends are travelling in the same direction, share a taxi to save time and money.

Transperth bus, train and ferry services

Public transport is a cost-effective way to get around and when catching late-night trains and buses, you'll be surprised how easy it is to get where you want to go with Transperth.
1 Late-night Transperth trains and buses
 
  • Transperth train services run every 30 minutes before midnight and then depart hourly until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Transit officers patrol trains from 7pm until the last service and Transperth train stations are constantly monitored via state-of-the-art closed-circuit security cameras for added passenger safety.
  • Transperth bus services run on major routes until as late as 12.30am. For Transperth timetables and fare information, visit the Transperth website or contact Transperth.
2 Transperth NightRider
  For a flat fare of $5, you can take the Transperth NightRider home from Fremantle or Northbridge on Saturday nights (Sunday mornings).
Each NightRider bus has two security guards and closed-circuit security cameras on board.
   
  Fremantle NightRider bus services leave Fremantle Train Station, then Fremantle Markets, South Terrace, every hour on Saturday nights (Sunday mornings) from 1am until 4am and operate along the following routes:
 
  • Fremantle to Northbridge via Canning Highway;
  • Fremantle to Rossmoyne via Leach Highway; and,
  • Fremantle to Bull Creek via South Street.
  Northbridge NightRider bus services leave Milligan Street, between James and Roe Streets, every hour on Saturday night (Sunday morning) from 1am until 4am and operate along the following routes:
 
  • Northbridge to Scarborough Beach via Scarborough Beach Road and
  • Northbridge to Fremantle via Canning Highway.

The Transperth InfoLine (13 62 13, TTY: 9428 1999) operates from 6.30am to 10pm Monday to Friday and from 7am to 10pm on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

Did you know that skippers can get free soft drinks?

An initiative of the Liquor Industry and the Road Safety Council, the Skipper Program makes free soft drinks available to designated skippers at participating licensed premises throughout Western Australia.

Planning something special? Hire a tour or charter vehicle

Tour and charter vehicles provide a guaranteed pre-booked transport option and are a great way to travel in style to that special occasion.
Some companies provide mini-buses that provide an economical transport option for large groups.

You need to book tour and charter vehicles in advance.
Use the Yellow Pages to search for limousine and/or car hire services, or charter &/or tours.
