Schools - promote walking and get involved
Did you know…
- Children need at least 1 hour of physical activity each day
- More than two out of three children are still driven to and from school each day, even though many live within two kilometres of their school - an easy 20 to 25 minute walk.
- walking to school with a parent or guardian is a great way for kids to be active and acquire road sense
- The more people out and about with ‘eyes on the street’ makes for a more vibrant and safer community.

- improved self esteem and confidence
- enhanced social skills
- improved concentration levels
- reduced levels of stress, depression and anxiety
