Walk Over October seminar 2011

A free half-day seminar was held on Monday 24 October 2011 as part of the Walk Over October campaign.

The seminar was attended by professionals involved in walking from urban planning and design, to promotion of walking so they can learn across the transport, health, planning, recreation and environment portfolios. This year’s seminar, coordinated by Heart Foundation WA, attracted 31 professionals as part of Walk Over October campaign.

The Department of Transport’s Executive Director Transport Policy and Systems Ben Harvey hosted internationally recognised public health, planning, and transportation consultant Mark Fenton. Mr Fenton presented on pedestrian community plans, public health issues and the need for community, environmental, and public-policy initiatives. He was supported by Director of the Centre for the Built Environment and Health, University of WA Professor Fiona Bull and Arup Senior Transport Planner Dr Ryan Falconer.
