The State Government has established the Freight and Logistics Council of Western Australia.

The group consolidates previous modal councils and reflects the trend in industry towards broad-based freight logistics outcomes.

The objective of the Council is to enhance strategic policy outcomes to the benefit of both Government and industry through ongoing liaison at a senior level between public and private sectors.

  Sea freight and ports

The Ports and Maritime Directorate of the Department of Transport manages the State-wide strategy and policy for all ports in Western Australia, including strategies for investment, development and reform.

The Directorate advises the Minister for Transport on a range of port and maritime issues in addition to providing ongoing general advice to ports within Western Australia.

This includes the recent WA ports review.

Key stakeholders of the Directorate include port authorities, State Government departments and agencies, Commonwealth agencies.
