About Bikeweek
Bikeweek is coordinated by the Department of Transport's Bikewest and hosted by local governments, community groups, workplaces, cycling organisations and schools across the state.
Bikeweek has continued to grow in size and scope thanks to the efforts of coordinators and participants alike who have joined in to help promote and celebrate cycling in Western Australia.
Cycle Instead Bikeweek 2012
The 27th Bikeweek was officially held from the 18 - 25 of March 2012, with so many events organised that activities actually ran across the state from March 11 to April 1.The 2012 Bikeweek attracted over 30,000 adults and children to more than 100 community and 130 school-based events across metropolitan and regional WA.
The calendar of events boasted a variety of activities for cycling enthusiasts of all ages and riding ability, from those new to cycling to those back on their bikes after a break and the more experienced riders.
RAC Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma
Bikeweek was launched on Sunday 18 March with the popular RAC Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma, which had a new look this year with multiple start locations for participants to choose from and range of distances from the 10km Mini Hike to the 70km Full Hike.The warm weather made for an enjoyable ride, with over 8000 participants pedalling their way along the freeway to the new carnival finish at Langley Park in the Perth CBD.

Peel Region Bikeweek
The South Metropolitan Public Health Unit received sponsorship support from the Department of Transport and, together with community agencies, businesses and bike clubs, programmed a range of cycling activities.Events included a downhill mountain biking skills day, Pinjarra community breakfast, seniors social rides and morning teas, Coodanup community BBQ, Mandurah community breakfast, workplace challenges and a disability services fun on wheels BBQ.
Bikeweek participant prizes
Everyone who participated in a Bikeweek event went into the draw to win a bicycle prize pack valued at $500. The winners will be drawn on Wednesday 18 April and notified by phone.Bikeweek supporters also had the chance to win one of 6 bicycle prize packs worth $1,000 each through the West Australian Bikeweek Liftout. Bikewest received over 1,500 entries into the draw and ecstatic winners were notified on Wednesday 28 March.
UCI World Cycling Tour
Bikeweek coincided with the UCI World Cycling Tour, which ran from Saturday 17 March to Sunday 25 March.|

Perth's Autumn Festival
Cycling events around WA have not ended with Bikeweek. Cycling enthusiasts can get involved in some great cycling activities during the 2012 Perth's Autumn Festival. The Autumn Festival celebrates the magnificent Swan River, Perth Hills and Swan Valley with community events held over seven weeks of autumn.Visit the Perth Tourism website for details of activities taking place around Perth.
