Metropolitan taxi fares
Please note:
Metropolitan taxi fares increased by 2.51 per cent on 1 December 2011 following an independent annual fare review (unless otherwise marked).

Taxi operators are permitted to pass on the Airport surcharge and any other toll paid during the hire. Previously, the Airport levy was added to the fare at the conclusion of a taxi journey over and above the fare shown on the meter. Historically, some passengers were unwilling to pay the cost quoted by the driver as it was inconsistent with the meter reading. Adding the levy to the meter not only ensures that the cost quoted by the driver is consistent with the meter reading. It also means the levy is recorded on a receipt that can be followed-up where compliance action is required. | ||
