Can you handle the challenge?

The Online Corporate Walking Challenge is held every year by the Department of Transport. The challenge is free and encourages participants from WA workplaces to increase their daily walking and replace some of the 90 million private car trips of less than one kilometre each year.

Corporate workers gather in teams of 4 in this exciting state-wide challenge. The Department of Transport's Online Corporate Walking Challenge was a huge success yet again, with over 1,832 participants from 432 teams.

Participants are able to track their daily step count online and compare them with their team members and friends from other organisations.

Hear from some challenge participants

  • “It only takes 15 minutes for me to walk to the station, and I have found that I am more alert when I get to work and will continue to walk to the train station throughout the warmer months of the year,” - Nichola
  • "Counting my steps (with a pedometer of course) has put a figure on the contrast between my weekdays and weekends.  Most weekdays I range about 8,000 to 9,000 steps, a little lower on deskbound days and higher with lots of meetings out (that I get to on foot, bus, train), whereas on Saturday I clocked up over 19,000 steps. My challenge is to boost the weekday count…" - David
