Breaking barriers for disadvantaged communities

Categories:

News article

Our Driving Access and Equity Program (DAEP) was created to support disadvantaged community members overcome the barriers to access a driver’s licence.

The program provides grant funding to organisations in regional and remote areas of Western Australia to improve access to appropriately licensed vehicles, driving instructors and supervisors, as well as other Department of Transport services, to help people learn how to drive and obtain a licence.

Assisting disadvantaged people to get their driver’s licence opens up many doors, including access to training, education, employment and allows more independence to travel to health appointments or transport family members around enabling improved community engagement.

We work closely with organisations and stakeholders to continue to identify barriers and determine initiatives that will benefit each community.
