About the Protocol
The Aboriginal Art, Language and Story Protocol ("the Protocol") is a comprehensive guide for use when consulting with Aboriginal peoples and obtaining Indigenous knowledge to guide or inform our projects or activities. The Protocol also provides advice for records management of the knowledge derived from that consultation.
The Protocol ensures Aboriginal peoples maintain their rights to protect their Indigenous Knowledge. It provides a consistent approach to best practice in consultation across the Transport and Major Infrastructure Portfolio; and confirms the Portfolio's commitment to strengthen relationships and use Aboriginal people's intellectual property in respectful ways.
