Your Western Australian driver's licence card features a design and enhanced security feature to protect the community against identity theft.
Design and security features of Western Australian driver's licence cards
The design features on the cards include:
- On the front of the card
- Name and residential address of the licence holder
- Expiry date of the licence
- Date of birth of the licence holder
- Highest classes held by the licence holder
- Signature and photo of the licence holder
On the rear of the card
- The issue date of your WA licence*
- A description of the highest classes held by the licence holder
- Any conditions applicable to the licence holder
- Expiry date of the licence and the date of birth of the licence holder are repeated from the front of the card
- A place to affix a change of address label
* The issue date of your WA driver's licence does not reflect the issue date of any licence/s you have held interstate or overseas. If you are seeking confirmation of the issue date of a driver's licence you held interstate or overseas, you will need to contact the relevant licensing authority of that jurisdiction.
The security features equal those required under current international best practice standards.
The security features ensure that forgery of the cards is much more difficult and acts as a deterrent against identity crime.

Distribution of your Western Australian driver's licence cards
A driver's licence is issued as proof of a person's authority to drive. The nature of the document also makes it a reliable and widely accepted identity document for many businesses and Government agencies.
After you have paid for the issue or renewal of your WA driver’s licence you should expect to receive your driver’s licence card in the mail. Once processed, it can take 10-15 business days for you to receive your driver’s licence card.
If you do not receive your new driver’s licence, you will need to:
- Contact us on 13 11 56; or
- Visit your nearest DVS centre, regional DoT office or agent with primary and secondary identification.
One of our staff members will check why your licence card was not received.

Lost Western Australian driver's licence cards
If you find someone else's driver's licence card, hand in the card to either:
- A DVS centre, regional DoT office or agent; or
- Your nearest police station.
