In Western Australia (WA), the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure’s Vehicle Safety and Standards classify vehicles for regulatory and compliance purposes. These classifications apply to the vehicle itself and are used to determine the safety, construction, and equipment standards a vehicle must meet to be licensed and used on public roads. Vehicle classes are linked to legislation and Australian Design Rules (ADRs) and are commonly applied when assessing vehicle compliance, modifications, imports, inspections, and licensing conditions.
The different classes and descriptions of the vehicles within those classes are as follows. For classes of vehicles, you are allowed to drive, please view the driver licence classes.

Condition codes
Condition codes apply to vehicles that do not comply with the Vehicle Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014.
Where a vehicle has been inspected and does not comply with the relevant regulations, the appropriate conditions will be endorsed on the licence for the vehicle.
Condition codes may also be applied to vehicles that are subject to a concession. Where a vehicle has had a concession applied, conditions are applied to the vehicle licence.
