Facilities have been improved for those walking, wheeling and riding to Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour with the introduction of bike racks, seating and shading in a new arrival zone.

Completion of the small project represents an early milestone in the implementation of a key strategy of the Fremantle Harbours Master Plan to enhance connections between the harbour and Fremantle’s heart.

As the Harbour Manager, the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) created the arrival zone where the shared path through Fremantle passes the Fishing Boat Harbour.

Located on Mews Road near Wardan Lane, this activation project supports walking and riding links to the harbour and complements other measures being planned by both DTMI and City of Fremantle to improve Bathers Beach as a family and event destination.

The facility provides new parking capable of accommodating larger cargo and family bikes, as well as seating for the harbour community and visitors in a pleasant, landscaped plaza.
