Licensing centre average wait times
These are the current average wait times for DoT’s metropolitan licensing centres. Wait times may be longer in centre as they are based on:
- the complexity of each transaction;
- number of customers waiting; and
- the time of day.
Wait times apply once you have been issued a service ticket and are subject to change.

Metro Centres
Joondalup Driver Assessment Centre
At the Joondalup Driver Assessment Centre, you are able to complete:
- learner’s permit and WA photocard applications
- car (C), motorcycle (R-N, R-E & R), light rigid (LR), medium rigid (MR) and heavy rigid (HR) PDAs
- learner’s permit theory tests
- hazard perception tests
- interstate and overseas licence transfers
- National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) worker screening checks.
Department of Transport licensing service business hours
Unless otherwise stated, DoT Driver and Vehicle Service centres are open between the hours of am and pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). Parking facilities are available near all metropolitan DVS centres.
Test commencement times:
- Computerised Theory Tests (CTT) must commence before pm.
- Hazard Perception Tests (HPT) must commence before pm.
- Customers with a Keys for Life certificate do not have to complete CTT testing.

Do I need to book my HPT?
There is no requirement to book a HPT at any of our metropolitan Driver and Vehicle Service (DVS) centres or regional DoT centres, although HPT tests must commence before 3.45 pm.
You may need to book your HPT if you intend to take the test at a regional authorised agent. Call before you attend to find out whether a booking is necessary.

Licensing services at participating Australia Post outlets
There are two types of DoT authorised Australia Post outlets:
- DoT account payment and driver's licence Photopoint outlets
- DoT account payment outlets only.
Unless otherwise stated, Australia Post outlets are open between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
Paying your DoT account at an Australia Post outlet
To provide customers with choice and convenience in accessing our information and services, selected driver and vehicle services can be completed at participating Post Offices, including:

Authorised agents licensing service business hours (limited services)
Authorised agents are licensing service providers that offer selected driver and vehicle services on behalf of the DoT.
All authorised agents offer the following services:
- Pay your Department of Transport account. 1

- Transfer of vehicle ownership. 4
- Pay licensing offences, infringement. 1
- Pay licensing transfer infringements. 1
- Pay licence plate Infringements. 1
- Pay licensing boat renewal. 5

Some authorised agents:
- have varied opening hours.

DoTDirect online account and paying online
Pay online
If your renewal account is current, you can pay online by credit card using our online payment facility.
You will need your account number to make online payments for your driver's licence or vehicle licence (registration). If you have misplaced your account number, you can find it using our online account number enquiry tool.
Pay through your DoTDirect online account
You can pay your renewals through your DoTDirect online account. Driver and vehicle licence payments that are due can be paid through your to-do list without the need for an account number.

About using DoTDirect
- Our online payment service is unavailable between 8:00 pm Sunday - 1:00 am Monday WST due to routine maintenance.
- All information on the system is secure to prevent any other party intercepting your credit card details.
- If you have a pension concession card, please refer to your vehicle licence renewal notice to find out if you need to present your card at a DVS centre or regional agent before renewing.
- You need to notify DoT within 21 days if you have changed address. Find out how to change your address online.
