How to apply for a heavy driving instruction vehicle concession

Applicants must complete a Letter of Application, on Driving School letterhead, detailing the use of the vehicle and submit it in person at a Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) centre, DoT regional office or agent or by email to concessions@transport.wa.gov.au.

Vehicle must	Rate	Conditions
Be a prime mover or multi body; Have three (3) or more axles and a GVM exceeding 15 tonnes; Be licensed in the name of a driving school or driving instructor; Be modified for the purpose of driving instruction.	50% reduction in vehicle licence charges	Used exclusively for driving instruction purposes. Subject to initial and annual inspection. Not to carry a load for hire or reward unless licence is restored to full rates. Not to tow a trailer/semi-trailer carrying a load for hire or reward unless licence is restored to full rates.

Notes:

Vehicles are not eligible for this concession if they are trailers or semi-trailers; let for hire or sub-leased; or heavy rigid vehicles.

Concession is not automatically applied if a vehicle is transferred to a new owner.
