How to add or remove a driver's licence block

Protect your driver's licence by adding or removing a licence block. 

  1. Follow the steps to login to DoTDirect or create a DoTDirect account
  2. Once you are in DoTDirect, click on Driver's Licence across the top of the screen in the blue menu.
  3. Click Protect your identity dropdown menu item.
  4. Click Add licence block
  5. Once successful, a blue alert confirming the block has been added will appear across the top of page section.
    1. To check if you have a licence block, in the Protect your identity dropdown menu item, you will instead see a Remove licence block button. If you wish to remove the licence block, click on this button.

Note: There is no maximum number of times you can add and remove a licence block. We recommend keeping your licence blocked at all times and removing the block only when needed.

Service providers, like your phone and internet provider, gas, energy and banks, will often use your driver's licence to verify your identity when establishing an account with them. If your driver's licence is not being accepted, you may have added a licence block.
