Grants totalling more than $2.4 million have been announced in round 30 of the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS).

In a win for regional boating every grant allocated in the latest round will go to projects in the regions, stretching from Wickham in the Pilbara to Peaceful Bay near Denmark.

The majority of the funding will be spent on major boat ramp and jetty upgrades at Wickham, Monkey Mia and South Yunderup while smaller projects to enhance facilities for users will be undertaken at Exmouth Boat Harbour and Peaceful Bay.

Funds were also allocated for planning of upgrades at Leeman boat ramp and at the Bundegi boat ramp.

Managed by DTMI, the scheme partners with boating facility managers to provide new and improved boating facilities for the more than 100,000 recreational craft registered in WA.

If you would like to see improvements at your local ramp, we encourage you to talk to the facility manager.

Managers can apply to DTMI for grants up to 75 per cent of the estimated project cost, with the maximum amount limited to $750,000. Applications can be made for the planning, construction or upgrade of boat launching ramps, jetties, moorings, and new channels that are directly related to a public boating facility.  Eligible land-based infrastructure at public boating facilities includes trailer parking, toilets, lighting, and signage.
