How to apply for a seniors, veterans or pensioner concession
Please complete the C1 Application for concession form (PDF 319KB). Instructions are provided on the form. You may also be entitled to a refund on licence fees where you have paid full rates and the concession rate should have been applied. Vehicle licence concessions
100% on vehicle licence fees and vehicle licence duty on the purchase of a vehicle.
Vehicle must
Be a car or bus with:
- An unloaded mass not exceeding 3,000 kg; or
- A goods vehicle with an unloaded mass not exceeding 3,000 kg; or
- A motor home (mobile caravan); or
- A motorcycle; or a moped as defined in the Road Traffic (Authorisation to Drive) Regulations 2008.
- Not be licensed to a business.
- Not be the subject of a Fines Enforcement Sanction at the time of applying for the concession.
Conditions
Applicants for a concession must:
- Be the primary card holder.
- Have one of the following:
Letter from Centrelink confirming you receive the maximum rate of pension and one of the following: - Centrelink Pension Card (Blind); or- Centrelink Disability Support Pension Card; or- Centrelink Pension Card (Carer). (See note 3 below).
Letter from Veterans' Affairs certifying you have been assessed at 60 or more impairment points under the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 or Veterans' Affairs Veteran Card (Gold) printed with TPI or EDA, or Letter confirming you are in receipt of or eligible for the Special Rate of Disability Pension either under the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 or the Veterans’ Entitlement Act 1986.
50% exemption from vehicle licence fee
Vehicle must
- Be a car or bus with an unloaded mass not exceeding 3,000 kg; or
- A goods vehicle with an unloaded mass not exceeding 3,000 kg; or
- A motor home (mobile caravan); or
- A motorcycle; or a moped as defined in the Road Traffic (Authorisation to Drive) Regulations 2008.
- Not be licensed to a business.
- Not be the subject of a Fines Enforcement Sanction at the time of applying for the concession.
Conditions
Applicants for a concession must:
- be the primary card holder
- have one of the following:
- Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or Veterans' Affairs; or
- WA Seniors Card and a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card issued by Centrelink or Veterans’ Affairs (both cards must be presented).
Notes:
- Concession applies to only one vehicle at a time.
- Eligible customers may choose to transfer the concession to another eligible vehicle licensed in their name however the existing vehicle licensed with the concession must be restored to full rates before making application for a concession on another vehicle.
- If you already hold a vehicle licence concession, your future renewal reminders will be calculated and issued with the fee concession stated on the renewal notice.
- The pension age for a veteran who has qualifying service is five years earlier than pension age for a non-veteran. For further information please refer to Services Australia or Department of Veterans' Affairs.
- All applicants in receipt of the maximum rate of Carer Payment are eligible to apply for a 100% vehicle licence fee exemption (concession), regardless of whether the person they are caring for has an existing concession on a vehicle licensed in their name.
- Applicants are able to use their smart phone/devices to show their Centrelink eConcession Card on their Digital Wallet app when making application for a DTMI concession.
- If the applicant was entitled to the maximum rate of Disability Support Pension prior to the Age Pension, an E113 Concession Entitlement Verification form (PDF 180KB) endorsed by Centrelink (Services Australia) must also be provided.
Driver’s licence and WA Photo Card fee concessions
100% exemption from payment of the driver’s licence or WA Photo Card fee for the renewal or replacement of a driver's licence or WA Photo Card.
Vehicle must
- Hold a Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or Veterans’ Affairs and in receipt of the Age Pension below); or
- WA Seniors Card and a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card issued by Centrelink or Veterans’ Affairs (both cards must be presented); or
- Veteran Affairs Veteran Card (Gold) printed with TPI or EDA or
- Letter confirming you are in receipt of or eligible for the Special Rate of Disability Pension either under the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 or the Veterans’ Entitlement Act 1986.
Conditions
Applicants for a concession must be the primary card holder.
The concession card must be presented at the time of application to obtain an exemption from the fee for a WA Photo Card.
50% reduction of fee for the renewal or replacement of driver's licence or WA Photo Card.
Vehicle must
- Hold a Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or Veterans’ Affairs; or
- A WA Seniors Card.
Conditions
Applicants for a concession must be the primary card holder.
The concession card must be presented at the time of application to obtain a reduced rate for a WA Photo Card.
Notes:
Refunds cannot be provided where a customer has paid full rates for a WA Photo Card and then presents evidence of concession eligibility at a later date.
If you already hold a driver's licence concession, your future renewal reminders will be calculated and issued with the fee concession stated on the renewal notice.
