COVID-19: Updates on Department of Transport services

Driving and registrations

Current advice on driving, taking your PDA and vehicle registrations.

Our DVS Services centres will open as normal from Tuesday 27 April. When visiting our centres, we ask that you continue to observe good physical distancing and scan in using the SafeWA app or sign a contact register.

For more information on COVID-19 health advice, please visit health.wa.gov.au.

Learning to drive

There are currently no restrictions on learning to drive. Remember, you must wear a mask if you are learning to drive with someone who is not from your household.

Practical Driving Assessments (PDAs)

PDAs, including motorbike tests, in the Perth and Peel regions will continue as normal from Tuesday 27 April 2021.

If you are feeling unwell, you must not attend a centre. Please call 13 11 56 to reschedule your test.

Licensing, registrations and renewals

For many transactions, you don't need to come into a centre. DoTDirect makes managing your licensing business easy. You can complete transactions online, such as paying your rego or licence, changing your address or transferring a vehicle.

You can attend a DoT licensing centre or agent to complete transactions you can't do online.

About the freeze on vehicle licensing (rego) fees

You still need to pay your vehicle rego to continue driving on the road. Our flexible payment options allow you to pay in three, six or 12-month intervals.

If you donít pay your vehicle rego and your vehicle is unlicensed for more than three months, you will need to have the vehicle inspected for it to be re-licensed.
