Practical Driving Assessments (PDAs)

Due to COVID-19, approximately 35,000 candidates were not able to complete a PDA from mid-March to mid-May 2020, resulting in a backlog of customers needing a driving test right across the network. We have worked hard for the past 8 months to recover, with PDA availability now better than it was pre-COVID.

On Wednesday 31 March 2021 the temporary Welshpool Driving Assessment centre will close. Our other centres will continue to operate as normal, with PDA timeslots available over the coming weeks and months.

PDAs can be booked online through DoTDirect.

Licensing, registrations and renewals

For many transactions, you don't need to come into a centre. DoTDirect makes managing your licensing business easy. You can complete transactions online, such as paying your rego or licence, changing your address or transferring a vehicle.

You can attend a DoT licensing centre or agent to complete transactions you can't do online.

About the freeze on vehicle licensing (rego) fees

You still need to pay your vehicle rego to continue driving on the road. Our flexible payment options allow you to pay in three, six or 12-month intervals.

If you donít pay your vehicle rego and your vehicle is unlicensed for more than three months, you will need to have the vehicle inspected for it to be re-licensed.
